My Philosophy

Self-belief and confidence are keys to success - but remember, success does not mean the grade you get on your paper at the end of the day. Success is personal to you. If you know you worked hard, did the best for you, then you will achieve your success.

There will be musicians out there who don’t give a jot about Pythagoras, and future sporting stars who don’t give two hoots about Shakespeare*. However (and this is really important!), while tests don’t define who you are, they do open doors for your future so it’s imperative to do the very best that you can.

(*although personally I think everyone should give at least a small hoot about Shakespeare because he’s awesome ;-) )

  • Miss Gunner is an excellent teacher, who constantly pushed me during my time in school to believe in my abilities, and is such a huge part of the reason for my top grades in English. I had Miss Gunner as a teacher in Year 9 in high school, where she first taught me English. At the start, I really disliked English and could not understand how to do it. By the end, I realised my passion for English and ended up winning awards for English in my school. I would honestly say she is not just a good teacher who is patient and understanding, but she is a genuinely kind and lovely woman who will work to help you see the best parts of yourself.   • Mrs Gunner can be described with two words, 'flipping amazing!'. She has been helping me succeed in many different English language topics, and I can tell you that I've seen a huge difference, thanks to Mrs Gunner. I was predicted a grade 4 in my mocks and I got a 7! We go over techniques and the affects they have on the reader, the variety of language the writers use in their work. Most of all we do all this in a fun way. I have a good bond with Mrs Gunner; she is so lovely and easy to get on with and is 100% the right person for your English tutoring. Don't bother with other English tutors and just believe me you'll have a GREAT time learning with Mrs Gunner.
